Elizabeth Holley – Goodwin Memorial Scholarship

Elizabeth Holley - Goodwin, known as Liz Holley during her teaching career at Orange County High School, was the heart and soul of OCHS’s music program.  Her career at OCHS included over fifty major music productions, and she often assisted with the school’s drama programs, particularly when the production was a Broadway musical.

Many students still remember the words to the songs they rehearsed.  More importantly, they remember Mrs. Holley for her kindness, grace, and character.

Liz retired from OCHS in 1988, leaving a lasting legacy of music and kindness that continues to bring a smile to the faces of many OCHS alumni. For many students, hers was their favorite class.

In her early years of teaching, she posted the motto “Be Humble and Be Wise” in her classroom.  This phrase is remembered by many, especially Aubrey Daniel, who, as a Freshman at OCHS, saw it and remembers it to this day.  In her memory, Aubrey is providing the initial funding for The Elizabeth Holley-Goodwin Memorial Scholarship with the hope that others will make yearly donations to sustain her Memorial Scholarship and legacy for years to come.
