"Skeeter" Lutz Memorial Scholarship
For those of us lucky enough to have known "Skeeter" Lutz, his death from cancer in 2017 hit us hard. The man was a force, 200 percent personality. Everything he did—whether playing softball, coaching girls basketball, rooting for the Virginia Cavaliers, umpiring, refereeing, or just holding court in the Porterfield Park end zone—he did with gusto. He made a mark on us all, and we all miss him.
"Skeeter" loved people, and so many people loved him back. He also loved Orange County High School. A few of his classmates from the Class of 1976 have decided to honor Skeeter’s memory by founding a scholarship in his name. OCHS seniors planning to further their education—whether in college, technical school, or the military—may apply for the "Skeeter"Lutz Scholarship Fund. Please consider making a donation, as a way of keeping the memory of this remarkable man alive. Donations are tax-deductible.
